This is primarily about J-Lo, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was a normal puppy, happy and healthy. When she was about 9 months old she started to cry and fall over, this was quite distressing, but did not happen alot.
J-Lo is now eighteen months old. A few weeks ago she was diagnosed with Syringohydromyeia, which is a common problem with this particular breed. After she was diagnosed, she was put on medication, which she will have to be on forever.
Quite simply, Syringohydromyeia is the term to describe the fact that the skull is too small for the brain, which then has to be squeezed into a space too small for it, imagine a size 6 foot trying to squeeze into a size 4 shoe, painful!
In discussion with the vet's that diagnosed the problem, it was found that there is very little research being undertaken into this common, painful and frightening condition. The aim of this web site is simply to raise money to be able to start research.
We will soon be aplying for Charity Status and once assigned a number will publish this on our site.
